Nikko Shoji Opens Scrap Collecting Business Site in Vietnam

Nikko Shoji, a trading company wholly owned by Nippon Mining & Metals, plans to establish a business site in Vietnam in April 2010. The firm will utilize the new business site to collect metal scrap from Japanese electronic component makers’ plants in Vietnam and supply collected scrap to Nippon Mining & Metals’ group companies in Japan. The new branch will also sell metal processed products and surface treating chemicals. Nikko Shoji will make a formal decision until January 2010.

Japanese electronic component makers have actively established new plants in Vietnam. Metal scrap generation from these plants is increasing including copper and precious metals. Nikko Shoji started collection of these metal scraps without a local business site in May 2009. The firm aims more stable scrap collection through opening a new site in the country.

Nikko Shoji supplies collected metal scraps as recycling materials to Nippon Mining & Metals’ group companies including Saganoseki smelter of Pan Pacific Copper and Kurami plant to fabricate metal products.

A half of Nikko Shoji’s revenue stands on material recycling business. Nikko Shoji collects metal scrap at Tokyo Recycling & Technical Services Center, Amagasaki Recycle Center and 3 offices in Kurami, Hitachi and Kyusyu in Japan. The firm reinforces material supply to the group companies by overseas scrap collection.
