Hitachi Cable Launches Surface Treated Rolled Cu Foil

Hitachi Cable announced on Monday the firm starts commercial mass production of surface treated rolled copper foil in December. The firm tires to improve the competitiveness in quality and cost through the surface treated products line while the firm traditionally makes material foil after the firm established the mass production system with monthly 500,000 square meters of output capacity at Tsuchiura plant in Ibaraki.

The firm can add the surface treated foil on traditional rolled copper products line while the firm rejected to disclose the total production capacity. The firm tries to expand the rolled copper business though development of better formability for surface treated foil.

The firm sells the surface treated foil mainly for flexible printed circuit while copper foil is also used for negative electrode collector of lithium ion battery. Surface treated foil has segregated copper grain on the surface, which has better bonding ability with bond.
