Japan Carbon Steel Export Rises by 10.0% in October

Japanese carbon steel export increased to 2.314 million tonnes by 10.0% in October from a year earlier, which increased for the first time in 13 months, announced by Japan Iron and Steel Federation on Tuesday. The export increased by 0.1% in October from September, which increased for 5 consecutive months when the export increased to Asia mainly South Korea. Japanese special steel export increased to 498,000 tonnes by 7.0% in October from September.

Total steel export increased to 3.434 million tonnes by 14.5% in October from a year earlier, which increased for 3 consecutive months, while decreased by 4.0% from September and decreased for the first time in 6 months. The total amount of steel export increased to US$ 3.157 billion or 284.1 billion yen.

Japanese steel export increased to 40,000 tonnes by 21.6% for steel bar in October from September, 351,000 tonnes by 8.8% for plate, 816,000 tonnes by 1.9% for hot rolled strip and 397,000 tonnes by 1.1% for zinc coated sheet. On the other hand, the export decreased to 26,000 tonnes by 32.9% for wire rod in October from September, 64,000 tonnes by 23.2% for shaped steel, 64,000 tonnes by 9.4% for magnetic sheet and 43,000 tonnes by 6.3% for seamless steel tube.

The total steel export increased to 986,000 tonnes by 61.0% to South Korea in October from a year earlier, which increased for 5 consecutive months. The export increased to 336,000 tonnes by 21.2%, which increased for 3 consecutive months. The export decreased to 568,000 tonnes by 4.3% to China, which decreased for the first time in 5 months.
