Nippon Seisen Starts Thai Stainless Wire Production for Spring

Nippon Seisen, which is a wire products producing subsidiary of Daido Steel, has started production of stainless steel wire for spring in Thailand. Thai Seisen, a subsidiary of Nippon Seisen has already started shipping the sample product to Japanese spring makers in Thailand and other South East Asian countries. The firm aims to supply 100 tonnes of stainless steel wire per month to spring makers until 2011. Thai Seisen produces mild steel products. However, the firm aims to increase the production of hard steel products such as wire for spring to strengthen the business.

The output of Thai Seisen was less than 50% of the monthly 500 tonnes of capacity at the bottom when the economy in Thailand weakened. However, the output has increased to about 70% of the peak when the economy in Thailand recovered.

Nippon Seisen group’s stainless steel wire production capacity is 3,200 tonnes per month. The operation rate is about 70% of the ordinary condition. The firm adjusts the supply and delivery when the demand is strong and the firm cannot get an adequate stainless steel wire rod supply.
