Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 18,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade, 19,800 yen for H1 grade and 21,500 yen for HS grade at the dealers’ purchase including freight around Tokyo. Local electric furnace steel makers keep the purchase price at 24,000-25,000 yen for H2 grade since mid November while some makers pay around 25,500 yen.
The dealers scrap purchase volume is still low level due to lower operation rate of automakers and manufacturers. The scrap dealers are reluctant to change the price before makers’ price move under shrunk market. Ferrous scrap price in Osaka is flat at around 16,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade at the dealers’ purchase price while local electric steel makers pay 23,500-24,500 yen.
