NSSC Increases New Dual Phase Stainless Plate

Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel (NSSC), Japanese largest stainless steel maker, announced on Monday the firm added new dual phase stainless steel plates, 2 types of low price products and 1 type of high corrosion resistance products. NSSC’s lineup of dual phase stainless plates increased to 7 types from 4 types. NSSC aims to increase the sales of the products for desalination plants and chemical tankers whose markets are expanding worldwide.

NSSC’s Yawata works will triple the production capacity to 3,000 tonnes per month in September 2010 and introduce a new rolling mill to produce the plate for the size with 4 meters width. The firm will build up international competition power.

Stainless products dealers will stock and sell new dual phase stainless plates. New products are S32101 and S32304, those which are low price types, and S32750, which is a high corrosion resistance type.

Dual phase stainless plate is used as steel structures such as bridges or marine oil plants. The demand for the products is increasing by about 3 times for 3 years in the world. The products have high weldability, to reduce plate’s thickness with high strength. Plate users can reduce weight of structures by utilizing dual phase stainless plate.
