Japan Import Steel Stock Drops by 3.5% in November

Japanese imported steel inventory at quays in Tokyo and Osaka decreased by 3.5% (5,000 tonnes) to 135,000 tonnes at the end of November from a month earlier, according to Hanwa Co. The inventory decreased for the first time in 2 months due to lower arrivals. The inventory decreased by 44% (106,000 tonnes) from a year earlier.

In Osaka, the inventory increased by 9.5% (6,000 tonnes) to 69,000 tonnes from a month ago. Steel plate decreased by 12.5% (1,000 tonnes) to 7,000 tonnes while hot coil increased by 30.4% (7,000 tonnes) to 30,000 tonnes. Cold rolled coil kept flat at 32,000 tonnes.

In tokyo, the inventory decreased by 14.2% (11,000 tonnes) to 66,000 tonnes from a month ago. Steel plate decreased by 11.1% (1,000 tonnes) to 8,000 tonnes, hot coil decreased by 16.6% (9,000 tonnes) to 45,000 tonnes and cold coil decreased by 7.1% (1,000 tonnes) to 13,000 tonnes.
