Toyota Tsusho to Expand Global Aluminium Melt Supply to 500,000t/y

Toyota Tsusho Corporation, a trading company of Toyota Motor Group, plans to expand its global aluminium melt sales to 500,000 tonnes per year within 5 years. The company launches a new project to secure enough metal scrap. Toyota Tsusho aims the world no.1 supplier of aluminium melt.

Toyota Tsusho operates 13 aluminium melt plants in 5 countries at present. In Japan, there are 3 plants in Aichi, Fukuoka and Hokkaido. The company currently supplies aluminium melt at 5,000-6,000 tonnes per month for domestic market. The company’s global output volume exceeds 350,000 tonnes per year, the secondly largest supplier of aluminium melt in the world. The company plans to expand the supply to 500,000 tonnes per year in next 5 years.

However, aluminium scrap generation recently maintains very low worldwide. Toyota Tsusho tries to collect aluminium scrap utilizing its global business network. At the same time, the company focuses on other material sources such as ferrous scrap including aluminium, aluminium alloy turning scrap and mix metal scrap. Meanwhile, the company continues secondary aluminium production in balance with aluminium melt supply.
