Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel Corporation leaves stainless cold rolled steel sheet and plate price unchanged for January order from December, announced on Thursday. The firm reduces surcharge for nickel series cold rolled sheet by 5,000 yen per tonne while increases base price by 5,000 yen. Cold rolled plate price is 355,000 yen for nickel series while the price is 252,000 yen for chrome series. NSSC explained the shipment showed year-to-year increase in November, according to the statistics.
NSSC receives many inquiries about stainless plate for energy and plant usage in overseas market. The firm expects that the demand would increase when the firm receives inquiries about large scale development project such as desalination plant. However, domestic demand remains low, the firm explained. Yawata plant capacity decreases by 20-30% compared with the usual due to the outage.
