Nippon Steel, Okaya Sign Pact to Supply Sheet Steel for Vietnam

Nippon Steel and Okaya & Co., Ltd announced on Monday they signed contract with Vietnamese largest pre-engineered building company, PEB Steel Buildings to supply the material sheet steel. Nippon Steel and Okaya & Co. acquired each 12% interest in PEB Steel Buildings. Nippon Steel tries to increase the supply including high performance coated steel, SuperDyma to more than 50% of PEB Steel Buildings’ requirement.

PEB Steel Buildings operates from design of plant building and exterior, parts fabrication to construction. Nippon Steel and the group including Nippon Steel & Sumikin Coated Sheet have supplied coated steel and hot rolled flat steel. PEB Steel Buildings increases the production level to the full capacity of annual 36,000 tonnes purchasing more steel.

PEB Steel Buildings established in 1994 started the fabrication and construction business in Dong Xuyen industrial park, Ba Ria Vung Tau in 2005. The annual sales were US$ 30 million in 2008. Vietnamese demand of sheet steel fabricated building materials is expected to grow at more than 10% per year from estimated 300,000 tonnes per year with many plant construction when Vietnamese government tries to encourage offshore manufacturers’ direct investment in the country.

PEB Steel Buildings has competitiveness in short construction period, various design options and integrated quality control. Nippon Steel and Okaya & Co. try to follow Vietnamese construction steel demand through the partnership with PEB Steel Buildings while they support PEB Steel Buildings’ corporate value. Nppon Steel also tries to develop new construction steel products and improves the brand.
