Japanese Rolled Titanium Shipment to Keep Slow in 2010

Japan Titanium Society announced on February 4th that Japanese domestic shipment of rolled titanium products is estimated to maintain stagnant in 2010 when inventory adjustment of the products continues. A flying test of Boeing 787 succeeded at the end of 2009, which is a positive factor for titanium demand recovery. However, in Japan, market inventory of rolled titanium products has increased during recent two and a half years. As to the export, the shipment is expected to keep low except for the demand related to electric power generation in emerging countries. The shipment is likely to recover after late 2010.

The society didn’t announce concrete forecast figures of rolled titanium products shipment because the market conditions are very unforeseeable. The society suspended the announcement of the concrete figures of the demand forecast in 2009.
