Japanese Electronic Material Production Shows 23% Y/Y Increase in November

Japanese electronic materials production was 29.7 billion yen in November 2009, up by 23% from a year earlier, according to Japan Electronics & Information Technology Industries Association. The output value increased by 14% for metal materials, especially for electric tubes and lead frame materials.

Permanent magnet production decreased by 12%. Ferrite magnet production recovered the level as much as a year earlier while rare earth magnet production represented 15% year-on-year decrease. Soft ferrite production showed 17% decline.

Production of dielectric ceramics increased by 53%. Dielectric ceramic materials such as titanium oxide and barium carbonate increased by 68% in weight. Electrode materials for dielectric ceramics, such as silver, palladium and nickel, increased by 3%.
