Japan Tin Plate Export Price to Rise by US$ 250/t for Apr-Jun Shipment

Tin plate export price by Japanese integrated steel makers is likely to increase by US$ 200-250 per tonne for April-June shipment. The export price of cold rolled sheet for tin plate is expected to exceed FOB US$ 1,000 per tonne. Japanese steel makers and offshore importers are closing the price negotiations for April-June.

The overseas tin plate demand is forecasted to increase for April-June compared with January-March. The export price may surge more for July-September shipment to reflect high raw material costs in fiscal 2010 starting in April.

Japanese tin plate export price dropped in the first half of 2009 while turned upward since October-December 2009 thanks to the demand recovery. By the price hike for April-June shipment, Japanese steel makers will be able to cancel the cost up for raw materials since 2007.
