Japan Carbon Steel Wire Product Makers Raises Selling Price

Japanese carbon steel wire product makers are likely to raise the selling price when wire rod price is expected to rise in near future. Major steel wire product makers already announced the price hike to improve their profits.

Nippon Steel decided to raise the selling price of wire rod by 15,000 yen per tonne for April shipment. Tokyo Steel raised the selling price of wire rod by total 8,000 yen per tonne for February and March orders. Imported wire rod price from China surged until early February. A dealer source said Chinese wire rod price would continue increasing.

Toyo Seisen, a major carbon wire product maker around Tokyo, announced to increase the selling price by over 20,000 yen per tonne on and after April 1st. Toami, Japanese major welded steel wire mesh maker, raises the selling price in March and April in order to pass higher wire rod cost on the mesh products.

Carbon steel wire product makers have been suffered from worse profitability in a year or more due to rising costs and lowering market price. Cheaper imported wire products impacted the domestic market price.

The demand for building construction and civil engineering is unexpected to recover soon. The users are strongly requesting the price cut against dealers.
