Godo Steel to Increase Wire Rod Price by 15,000 yen/T

Godo Steel increases the selling price by 15,000 yen per tonne for carbon steel wire rod price, bar in coil and deformed bar in coil for the shipment in April, announced on Wednesday.

Ferrous scrap price is increasing and blast furnace steel maker increases billet price. Godo Steel passes higher cost to product price. Godo Steel increases low grade product price despite of the competition with imported products when the firm expects overseas wire rod makers are likely to increase the price under higher cost.

Godo Steel explained the firm increases the price to level enough to cover cost including investment and research and development for sustainable operation. Nippon Steel and Nakayama Steel Works announced both firms increase the price in April. All Japanese major carbon steel wire rod makers increase the price.
