Nikken Sangyo Establishes Subsidiary in South Korea

Nikken Sangyo, Osaka based steel tube manufacturer, established a subsidiary in Soul, South Korea, Nikken International Korea (NIK), in mid-January. NIK exports forgings and can products made by South Korean makers to Japan at the first phase while plans to become a fabless company by commissioned production by local factories. NIK aims the annual sales at 1.5 billion yen in 2010 and 3 billion yen 3 years later.

NIK’s capital fund is 100 million won (approximately 7.94 million yen), fifty-fifty invested by Nikken Sangyo and NIK’s managing director.

NIK now exports construction machine components while plans to export assembly products to East Asia or North America by utilizing Nikken Sangyo’s network with local component makers. NIK tries to follow the overseas demand for construction machines as a fabless maker.

Nikken Sangyo supposed South Korea has favorable power of cost competitiveness and technology to supply the products to East Asian market. The firm plans to give technology supports to local processors if needed. Nikken Sangyo eyes to establish other subsidiaries in India or Europe in future.
