Japan Secondary Al Production Doubles in February

Japanese secondary aluminium and aluminium alloy output increased by 98.3% to 67,305 tonnes in February from a year earlier while the shipment increased by 88.5% to 67,466 tonnes, according to Japan Aluminium Alloy Refiners Association. The output and the shipment showed the widest year-on-year increase in the history. However, the output decreased by 71.9% from February 2008 while the shipment decreased by 28.7%.

The secondary aluminium and alloy output increased by 3.2% in February from January while the shipment increased by 4.2%. Both the production and the shipment showed first month-to-month increase in 3 months and would increase more when the demand increases in March every year from the seasonal factor in automobile production.
