Mitsui Mining & Smelting’s Ageo Plant to Keep High Operation in Apr-Jun

The output of copper alloy fabricated products was approximately 3,800 tonnes at Mitsui Mining & Smelting’s Ageo plant, Saitama, Japan, in March. Ageo plant’s output capacity is about 4,000 tonnes per month except for zinc products and bare strips supplied to outer fabricators. However, the production was actually almost full in March with the current employee number. The demand has recovered from automobile and electric appliance industries. Ageo plant will keep the output at average 3,500 tonnes per month for April-June.

Ageo plant’s production was averagely 3,300-3,400 tonnes per month in January-February. The monthly output increased in March with more operating days than January and February. The plant needs to continue high operation for a next few months with order backlogs.

Ageo plant’s production was near 4,000 tonnes per month during the first half of fiscal 2008 (April-September 2008) while declined to 1,200-1,300 tonnes in February-March 2009 along the world economy deterioration. The demand has gradually recovered since May mainly for connector pins applied to cars and electric appliances.
