MonotaRO Starts Export Business to Asia in April

MonotaRO, Japanese steel products dealer started export business of tools to 7 countries including China and South Korea in April. The firm sells the products through offshore dealers and utilization of the sales network of Granger, US controlling company. MonotaRO aims the sales at 1 billion yen per year in the initial year.

This is the first export business for MonotaRO. The firm starts export mainly of private brand products to China in mid April, South Korea in May-June and USA, Canada, Mexico, Panama and India in spring 2011.

Potential demand is expected for Japanese industrial tools at overseas but the shipping volume is definitive when Japanese tool makers don’t have local supply functions. MonotaRO decided to launch the export business along the market survey that Japanese steel products have high competition power.

The firm enhances purchase power by expansion of trade, and can supply cheaper products to domestic users.
