YKK AP to Close 2 Domestic Plants

YKK AP closes 2 building sash manufacturing plants in Ibaraki and Yamaguchi, Japan until the end of September and transfers the manufacturing items at the plant to other plants in Saitama and Okayama, announced on Monday.

YKK AP pursues improving the earning recovery and reorganizing domestic manufacturing facilities. The firm has closed the exterior manufacturing plant in Oita, material for building plant in shiga and Shizuoka, and housing material plant in Chiba. The firm optimized the operation at these medium scale plants, which has a workforce of about 100 by transferring to other plants. The firm transfers the manufacturing of housing material at Keiyo plant in Chiba to Saitama and other plants.

The plant in Ibaraki, which closes until the end of September, started the operation in 1981 and the plant has 81 employees while the plant in Yamaguchi started the operation in 1984 and the plant has 61 employees. The firm transfers the workforce to plants in Saitama and Okayama.
