Construction Steel Price Increases in Tokyo, Osaka

Flat steel bar price increased by 3,000 yen to 85,000 yen per tonne for base size around Osaka last week, which represented the highest price in 10 months. The dealers aim to increase the reselling price to 88,000 yen when the makers increased the price. The price would increase more.

The demand slows in April while the users increased the purchase in late March. The inventory held by the dealers remains flat when the makers do not cut the order receipt.

The dealers increase the list price of steel column around Tokyo in May. Low price transactions at less than 90,000 yen per tonne decreases and some dealers increased the price to 95,000 yen. The dealers increase the price in May when the makers increased the price by 15,000 yen for April shipment.

Column demand remains low around Tokyo. However, the price increases for some items when the dealers reduced the inventory. The dealers increase the price by 5,000 yen watching the demand when the users would not accept that the price increases by 15,000 yen at one time.
