JFE Engineering Acquires IMO’s Approval for JFE Ballast Ace

JFE Engineering, Japanese major engineering company announced on Tuesday the firm acquired final approval of IMO, International Maritime Organization for water disposal system, JFE Ballast Ace for shipboard ballast. Medical agent, which was developed by the firm and Toagosei was approved. The system has high performance which can pass discharge standards of ballast water and the system is compact size. The firm acquires type approval of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The firm aims to accept over 300 orders per year in fiscal 2012.

The system reduces the amount of fungi and aquatic organism in ballast water of tanker or cargo boat. IMO set a benchmark for discharged water from ballast tank in port in 2004.

JFE Ballast Ace disposes aquatic organism and fungi by compound process of filter, medical agent, venturi tube, which pours chlorine disinfectant in ballast water, and blends and churns medical agent by whirl in venturi tube.

The firm has world largest size model from small model, which caters to needs for each size ocean-going ship from new ship to existing ship.

The firm has sales base in Japan, Shanghai and Singapore with Toagosei, which will expand to 20 bases within a year in the world.
