Japanese Order Receipts for Carbon Steels to Increase by 5% in June

Order receipts of carbon steel products in Japan is forecasted to increase by 5.0% to 1.45 million tonnes in June from a year earlier, according to Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport & Tourism. The volume is expected to increase by 7.9% to 4.35 million tonnes for April-June from the corresponding period of 2009. The demand would recover steadily.

Order receipts of shaped steels for building constructions is forecasted to increase by 8.6% to 330,000 tonnes in June from a year earlier and by 8.7% to 1.02 million tonnes for April-June from the same period of 2009. The volume would represent year-to-year higher following January-March.

On the other hand, order receipts of small bar is estimated to decrease in June from a year earlier. The shipment would decrease by 4.2% to 630,000 tonnes in June and by 0.6% to 1.89 million tonnes for April-June.
