Japanese 5 Steel Wire Makers Post Lower Sales in Fiscal 2009

Japanese 5 steel wire product makers of 6 major makers posted lower consolidated sales in fiscal 2009 ended March 2010 compared with fiscal 2009 due to the lower selling price and demand. Sumitomo Steel Wire posted the recurring loss while 2 firms posted lower recurring profit and 3 firms’ profit increased.

Suzuki Metal Industry, Suncall Corporation and Shinko Wire posted higher recurring profit in fiscal 2009 when the profit was at the low level in fiscal 2008 and the shipment increased to automobile related field in the second half of fiscal 2009.

All makers estimate the profit and the sales increase in fiscal 2010. The makers plan to increase the shipment to automobile, electronics and export.
