Japan Ferrous Scrap Export Declines by 42.7% in March

Japanese ferrous scrap export decreased by 42.7% to 487,000 tonnes in March from February, which decreased for 2 months in a row, according to Ministry of Finance. The lower export reflected lower transaction in February. The ferrous scrap export volume decreased to less than 500,000 tonnes for the first time in 4 months.

The export decreased by 50.8% to 261,000 tonnes to South Korea in March from February, which decreased for the first time in 4 months. The export declined by 15.8% to 208,000 tonnes to China and by 81.6% to 9,000 tonnes to Taiwan. The export volume to China and Taiwan decreased for the first time in 2 months.
