Japan Imported Flat Steel Stock Increases by 7.6% in April

Hanwa Co. announced on Thursday its quay inventory of imported flat steels increased by 9,000 tonnes or 7.6% to 127,000 tonnes in Tokyo and Osaka at the end of April from a month ago. The inventory upturned after 3 months with a fewer import arrivals and slower shipment for domestic market. By year-to-year comparison, the inventory decreased by 71,000 tonnes or 35.8%.

In Osaka, the inventory increased by 1,000 tonnes or 1.6% to 61,000 tonnes at the end April from March. The inventory decreased by 2,000 tonnes or 33.3% to 4,000 tonnes for plate while increased by 1,000 tonnes or 4% to 26,000 tonnes for hot rolled coil and by 2,000 tonnes or 6.8% to 31,000 tonnes for cold rolled coil.

In Tokyo, the stock increased by 8,000 tonnes or 13.7% to 66,000 tonnes. The stock kept flat at 9,000 tonnes for plate while increased by 6,000 tonnes or 15.7% to 44,000 tonnes for hot coil and by 2,000 tonnes or 18.1% to 13,000 tonnes for cold coil.
