Nisshin Steel to Integrate Special Steel Production Control into Sakai

Nisshin Steel will integrate special steel production control function into Sakai plant in Osaka as early as in 2011 to control production at 3 plants including Osaka and Kanzaki plant in Osaka. The firm improves the production management efficiency through the integrated production control. The firm keeps the production at 3 plants for a while but the firm also starts planning to integrate the all special steel production into Sakai plant.

The firm’s special steel unit ships around 26,000 tonnes per month including special steel sheet and strip at Sakai plant, cold finished strip and special cold finished strip at other 2 plants. The firm has around 50% of domestic market share for the special cold finished strip mainly for automotive applications.

The firm introduced new cold rolling facility with 600-1,300 millimeters of width at Sakai plant in 2008 to improve the production ability for high valued special steel products. The firm finished around 18 billion yen program of renewal of old facility and modernization for special steel unit started 2006 to improve the production capacity both in volume and quality.

The firm tries to utilize the new capacity to improve the business. The firm will improve the special steel production base mainly at Sakai plant. The Sakai plant controls the all special steel operations including production plan for better efficiency.
