Japanese ferrous scrap consumption increased by 7.5% to 3.778 million tonnes at converter, electric furnace and castings makers in March from February, which increased for 2 months in a row, according to Japan Ferrous Raw Materials Association.
The consumption increased by 7.9% to 1.182 million tonnes for the converter in March from February. The consumption increased by 6.6% to 2.021 million tonnes for electric furnace and by 8.0% to 472,000 tonnes for casting industry. Ferrous scrap supply increased by 19.5% to 4.045 million tonnes in March from February.
