Japanese Secondary Al Shipment Represents M/M Down in April

Japanese secondary aluminium and aluminium alloy ingot production increased by 43.9% to 72,601 tonnes in April from a year earlier while the shipment increased by 43.4% to 72,250 tonnes, according to Japan Aluminium Alloy Refiners Association. Both production and shipment represented year-on-year increase for 5 straight months. Meanwhile, the production decreased by 1.8% and the shipment lowered by 4.1% compared with March. Both production and shipment represented first month-to-month minus in 3 months.

The shipment increased by 28.8% to 39,329 tonnes for die casting in April, by 79.2% to 19,774 tonnes for casting and by 91% to 2,942 tonnes for extrusion compared with a year earlier. By month-to-month comparison, the shipment decreased by 10.4% for die casting and lowered by 3.4% for extrusion.
