Japanese Al Architectural Material Shipment Decreases in May

Japanese domestic production of aluminium architectural materials totaled 19,212 tonnes in May, which represented 1.8% year-to-year decrease and month-to-month 7.2% decline, while the shipment was 23,439 tonnes, which showed 3.4% year-to-year decrease and 5.1% month-to-month, according to Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry. The production represented first year-to-year decline in 3 months. The shipment showed year-to-year decline for 2 months in a row.

Production and shipment of aluminium sash for wooden houses represented year-to-year increase for 4 straight months. Home renovation demand seems to be stimulated by Japanese government’s eco-point system. Production of aluminium exterior also represented year-to-year increase for 3 continuous months.

On the other hand, production of building sash decreased by 15% year-to-year and by 8.9% month-to-month. The minus trend continued.
