Secondary Al Alloy Market Price in Weak Trend in Asia

Offshore market price of secondary aluminium alloy is weakening. Successful bid price was US$ 2,150-2,160 per tonne at Hyundai Motor’s material tender for July-September, decreasing by about US$ 300 from the previous quarter. Sigma Group, the world largest maker of secondary aluminium alloy, currently offers the low price at CIF US$ 2,160 per tonne against Japanese customers.

Japanese trader source said bid prices at Hyundai Motor’s July-September tender significantly lowered in response to price down of primary aluminium ingot. As to AD12.1 grade ingot made in China, Sigma Group’s offer price declined to the yearly lowest level along weak market of primary aluminium.

Russian AK5M2 base metal, the main material for secondary aluminium alloy, represents also weak trend. The current offer price is around US$ 1,900 per tonne. On the other hand, aluminium scrap price is nominally high in USA and Europe due to little generation volume. The offer price is around US$1,630 per tonne for Tense and US$ 1,610 per tonne for Taint Tabor, those which are mainly consumed by Chinese secondary aluminium alloy makers.
