Tostem to Develop Sash Market in Thailand, Asian Countries

Tostem Corporation expands Thai housing sash sales. The local production company, Tostem Thai develops the local market while the Thai company exported the all products for Japanese market. The Thai company tries to follow local demand when aluminium sash demand increases in Thailand and Asian nations.

The Thai company has shipped all of the products to Japanese market. However, Tostem’s president Toshio Ohtake said the company changed the policy to encourage offshore plants to develop local market. Under the new policy, the Thai company tries to develop new products for local market in order to develop local market.

Tostem Thai was established in 1987 and has plant near Bangkok. The firm makes monthly 6,600 tonnes of sash. The production represented 32% of Tostem’s housing sash production in fiscal 2009 ended March 2010 and the Thai company plans to make 34% of Tostem’s total production.

Tostem’s Chinese plant, Tostem Housing Products (Dalian) expands the wooden interior products production to 50% of Tostem’s total production in fiscal 2010 compared with 43% of total production in fiscal 2009.

JS Group Corporation including Tostem posted 26.3 billion yen of offshore sales in fiscal 2009 including 5.7 billion yen in Thailand, 5.5 billion yen in Vietnam and 4.6 billion yen in China. The group plans to expand the offshore sales to 45 billion yen in fiscal 2010 including 9.9 billion yen in Thailand, 7.1 billion yen in Vietnam and 11.3 billion yen in China.
