Japan and Indonesia to Hold Steel Dialogue in October

Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry (METI) plans to hold steel dialogue in Indonesia in October 2010 among Japanese and Indonesian governmental and private steel interests. They will exchange steel business information to forestall trade troubles when Japanese manufactures are aggressively entering Indonesian market and steel business is expanding between both countries. Japanese attendees are Mr. Masaki Koito, METI’s steel section head, and concerns of Japan Iron & Steel Federation and major steel makers. Indonesian attendees will be interests of Ministry of Industry and Indonesia Iron & Steel Industry Association.

Japan and Indonesia have several trade issues including Indonesian labeling system and enforcement of Indonesian standards. In Indonesia, car production is expected to increase strongly following motorcycles and large infrastructure projects are planned. Both countries are expected to enhancing connections including ODA (Official Development Assistance). They maintain smooth trade conditions through dialogue.
