Nippon Steel Group Gains Stainless HC Output Share in F2009

Nippon Steel group increased domestic stainless hot rolled flat steel production share by 1.0 percentage point to 33.1% in fiscal 2009 ended March 2010 from fiscal 2008 when the group with domestic largest share increased the production by 9.3% to 720,774 tonnes. Nippon Steel increased the production by 14.5% to 610,401 tonnes while Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel decreased the production by 12.3% to 110,373 tonnes.

The national production increased by 6.0% to 2.176 million tonnes in fiscal 2009 from fiscal 2008 when the actual demand recovered along with inventory adjustment at home and abroad.

Nisshin Steel kept the second position in the production ranking in fiscal 2009 as fiscal 2008. The share increased by 3.1 point to 24.1% when the production increased by 21.3% to 524,092 tonnes. The number 3 maker of JFE Steel decreased the share by 1.5 points to 18.1% when the production decreased by 1.9% to 394,730 tonnes.

The number 4 maker of Nippon Metal Industry reduced the production share by 1.8 points to 12.4% in fiscal 2009 from fiscal 2008 when the production decreased by 7.4% to 269,699 tonnes. The number 5 maker of Nippon Yakin Kogyo reduced the share by 0.7 points to 11.7% while the output increased by 0.9% to 255,693 tonnes.
