Japan H-beam Makers to Increases H-beam Price to US$ 700

Japanese H-beam makers increased H-beam export offer price by US$ 40-50 to around FOB US$ 700 per tonne to Southeast Asia from July level when Hyundai Steel increased the offer. The export price is likely to increase when the buyers show higher appetite since July.

Japanese H-beam makers aim to pass higher raw materials cost to selling price. Hyundai Steel increased the offer price by US$ 50-60 to C&F US$ 710 per tonne for the export to East Asia in early August. Japanese makers also seek to increase the price. Tokyo Steel Manufacturing increased the offer to FOB US$ 750 and integrated steels target to increase the price to more than US$ 700.

Offshore buyers increase the inquiry to Japanese H-beam suppliers since end of July when the buyers also expect higher price. However, Japanese steel makers didn’t get the actual order yet when the buyers’ bid is still lower than Japanese makers’ target price level.

Japanese makers would experience hard time to keep the export volume due to higher yen exchange rate and lower importers’ bid.
