Ohki Brass & Copper’s Output Stays High at 2,700t/m in 1H

Japanese major brass bar maker, Ohki Brass & Copper’s production was around 2,700 tonnes per month, which increased by 17.3% from the original plan, in the first half through June. The production is expected to stay at 2,700-2,800 tonnes per month while subsidy for eco-friendly car purchase ends in September.

The brass bar demand stayed at high level not only for automobile but also for water taps due to the increase in renovation. The production was around 95% in the first half compared with the level in same period of 2006 before housing start decreased.

The production could decrease in and after October due to the end of the subsidy. However, the firm expects the production will be at least 2,500 tonnes per month when the export rate of automobile parts increases.

Ohki Brass & Copper expects the sales will double at 20 billion yen in 2010 compared with 2009 and the operating profit will reach 600 million yen as original plan.
