Japan Secondary Aluminium Output Rises by 10.1% in July

Japanese secondary aluminium and aluminium alloy production increased by 10.1% to 70,356 tonnes in July from a year earlier, according to Japan Aluminium Alloy Refiners Association. The shipment increased by 11.1% to 70,884 tonnes. The output and shipment increased for 8 months in a row. However, the volume was lower than June by 0.7% for the output and by 2.6% for the shipment due to peaking demand for automobile. The production and shipment level was as low as 71.4% and 70.6% of the figures in July 2008.

The secondary aluminium and aluminium alloy ingot shipment increased for casting and flat product for 2 months in a row through July while the shipment decreased for other applications. The shipment decreased by 4.2% for die casting, by 14.6% for extrusion and by 3.3% for steel while the shipment increased by 1.0% for casting and by 3.1% for flat product.
