Rebar, Channel Price to Inch Up in Dealer Market

Concrete reinforcing steel bar market price would gradually increase from 58,000 yen per tonne for direct shipment transaction from makers to users and 62,000 yen for dealers’ stock sales around Tokyo. Rebar makers announced the selling price increase to 60,000 yen from the order in September. The dealers aim to pass higher cost to reselling price.

The order receipt of the rebar makers almost doubled to 200,000 tonnes in August from July when general contractors increased the purchase volume to secure the materials mainly for small and medium-sized construction works.

Channel steel market price would increase from 78,000 yen per tonne around Osaka when major channel makers, Osaka Steel and JFE Bars & Shapes announced the firms increase the selling price by 3,000 yen from September.

On the other hand, the demand stays at low level around Osaka while users increased the orders expecting the section steels price hike in August. The dealers keep the inventory at low level and plan to increase the reselling price gradually.
