KTC Makes Preliminary AD Determination Stainless Plate from Japan

Korea Trade Commission announced affirmative preliminary affirmative determination in antidumping investigation on stainless steel plate import from Japan. KTC launches main investigation without imposing preliminary antidumping duty. In public hearing, Japanese stainless steel makers argue Japanese makers don’t injure South Korean makers. KTC would make final determination in 3-5 months after the start of main investigation.

South Korean stainless steel plate maker, DKC filed antidumping against Japanese stainless steel import in March and KTC decided to launch the investigation on April 28. Japanese stainless steel plate has around 23% market share in South Korea while South Korean products has around 35%. Japanese largest stainless steel maker, Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel Corporation commented the firm exports high-value added products, which Korean maker cannot make.
