Japan Official Zinc Price Rises by 5,000 yen/t

Mitsui Mining & Smelting announced on Tuesday the firm increases the official zinc ingot price by 5,000 yen to 230,000 yen per tonne for September shipment. The firm reflects higher yen rate to improve the profitability with imported ore while the international price range is limited at London Metal Exchange. With the price increase, the averaged monthly price increases to 223,000 yen.

LME zinc price is US$ 2,120-2,170 per tonne in the month. The settlement was US$ 2,155.50 on Monday and was US$ 23 higher than the level on September 3, based on which the firm revised the official price previously. Exchange rate of yen was 86.71 yen per US dollar at telegraphic transfer selling rate on Tuesday, which was 1.33 yen lower than the level on September 6.

International nonferrous metals market price is firm due to positive stock market price and commodity market. World zinc supply is balanced but the price keeps highest level since the recent bottom in May.
