Yamato Steel Starts Wide Sheet Pile Sales in October

Yamato Steel, Japanese major electric furnace steel maker, starts the sales of wide sheet pile for the size with 600 millimeter width in October. The firm produced the sheet pile until 400 millimeter width, while accepted request from uses for wide sheet pile. The firm will sell it to general contractor.

The firm produces H-beam, channel, I-beam, sheet pile, shaped steel for shipbuilding or guide rail for elevator, etc, and sells these products to domestic users.

Domestic demand maintains low level for mainly civil engineering after Lehman Brothers’ collapse, and isn’t expected to recover for a long term. The firm judged it is required to develop width sheet pile for users.

The firm started the development of wide sheet pile in 2008 and improved steel making process to manufacture wide bloom by increasing mill’s power and introducing special guide in finished mill.

The firm started test run for wide sheet pile of 2 and 3 type for the size with 600 millimeters width in April, and constructed the production system of them. The firm has 5 sizes sheet pile with 2, 3 and 4 types for the size with 400 millimeters width.

The firm commissioned production of 2 and 3 types sheet piles for the size with 400 millimeters width in 1995, and 4 types in 1996.
