Japan Cu Fabricated Products Production Increases by 18.2% in August

Japanese copper fabricated products production increased by 18.2% to 65,820 tonnes in August from a year earlier, which increased for 10 months in a row, according to Japan Copper and Brass Association. The demand would decrease after September due to the end of subsidy for eco-friendly car purchase by Japanese government and the increase in yen exchange rate.

The production showed year-on-year increase through August since November 2009 and represented double-digit increase rate since December. The production increased to about 2.2 times in March from a year earlier due to the increase in semiconductor and automobile production in Japan and the export to Asia. However, Japanese automobile makers seem to reduce the output after October due to the subsidy end and copper fabricated products users’ export could decrease under yen appreciation.
