Japan Tin Plate Export Price Downs by Several Ten Dollars for Oct-Dec

Japanese export price of steel sheet for cans keeps flat for October-December shipment compared with July-September while lowered by several ten dollars per tonne for tin plate. Tin plate export price downs for the first time since the first half of 2009. Chinese tin plate price declined along price down of other steel products mainly for hot rolled steel sheet. Bao Steel of China reduced tin plate export price to Southeast Asia. As for black plate, Japanese steel makers are still in export price negotiations.

Bao Steel announced the firm lowers tin plate selling price by 700 yuan per tonne (approximately 8,800 yen) against domestic users for October sales, according to Japanese steel maker source. Bao Steel is increasing tin plate export to Southeast Asia due to low domestic market price. On the other hand, Bao Steel announced the price hike for hot rolled sheet by 300 yuan per tonne and for cold rolled sheet by 110 yuan per tonne. Bao Steel is unlikely to lower tin plate price in November.
