Japanese Colored Aluminium Shipment Widely Recovers in 1HF2010

Japanese colored aluminum shipment totaled 12,170 tonnes for April-September 2010, increasing by 40.2% on a year-on-year basis, according to Japan Aluminium Association. The shipment was 8,682 tonnes in the corresponding period of 2009 due to weak economy after Lehman Shock. The shipment strongly rebounded year-on-year while represented lower by 11.4% than recent peak at 13,736 tonnes in April-September 2008.

The shipment for architectural materials increased by 2% on year-on-year basis. Among architectural materials, the shipment increased for roofs and walls while maintained weak for other applications.

On the contrary, the shipment for non-architectural materials recovered largely. The shipment for electric machines and appliances jumped by 65.9%. The shipment was 13.9% lower than the recent peak in April-September 2008 while 15.9% higher than the shipment in the same period of 2007.

The shipment for transporting machines increased by 27.1% year-on-year. By comparison with April-September 2008, the shipment was lower by 15%.
