Morita Environmental Tech Accepts Guillotine Press Order from POSCO

Morita Environmental Tech (MET), Japanese major recycling equipment maker, accepted an order for 1,250- tonne guillotine press from POSCO, South Korean largest steel maker. POSCO sets the guillotine press in the new steel making plant of Pohang Iron Works and starts the operation in early mid 2011. MET is the subsidiary of Morita Pomp. This is the third order receipt from South Korean companies. MET has started fabrication of the equipment, which will be delivered in January 2011.

POSCO has electric furnace for stainless steel in Pohang Iron Works and electric furnace- steel sheet mill in Kwang Yang Iron Works. Both works import Japanese high grade ferrous scrap.

Pohang Iron Works produces hot rolled stainless steel sheet at 2 million tonnes per year with dedicated electric furnace. The works seems to increase scrap purchasing volume for carbon dioxide emissions reduction over a medium term. The works needs to enhance scrap processing technology in order to utilize not only high grade scrap but low grade scrap not processed.
