Nippon Steel’s Sakai Targets 70,000T Monthly Shipment in 2HF2010

Nippon Steel’s Sakai iron works plans shipment of steel products at average 70,000 tonnes per month in the second half of fiscal 2010 ending in March 2011, increasing by 20,000 tonnes from the first six months. The works expects for order increase related to offshore infrastructure projects. The works’ export ratio is expected to exceed 40% for October-December and approach 50% for January-March.

Sakai iron works produces high grade steel products including large size H-beam, extra thick H-beam and high functional sheet pile. The works shipped average 50,000 tonnes pert month in the first half of fiscal 2010. The operation ratio was averagely 85-90% and the export ratio was slightly less than 40%.

There were several large-lot shipments in the first half of fiscal 2010, which were hospital construction in UAE, river improvement works in Philippine and metro construction in Singapore.
