Al Scrap Price Increases by 3-5 yen per kg in Osaka

Secondary aluminium alloy makers agreed with the dealers to increase the aluminium scrap purchasing price by 5 yen per kilogram for higher grade scrap and by 3-5 yen for lower grade scrap around Osaka for the shipment in first half of August.

The makers planned to leave the scrap purchasing price unchanged in first half of August when secondary aluminium selling price would decrease. However, the makers decided to increase the purchasing price when the dealers required price increase due to the increase in overseas market price and low scrap inventory.

The purchasing price of secondary aluminium makers is 160-170 yen per kg for higher grade new cutting scrap including freight, 135-145 yen for foundry scrap from machine, 135-145 yen for pressed sash, 120-130 yen for alloy turning scrap and 125-130 yen for pressed used beverage can.

The makers increase higher grade scrap purchasing price by 5 yen per kg when Japanese primary aluminium ingot import breakeven point increased by 10 yen from the end of July.

The used beverage can scrap purchasing price increased by 5 yen per kg due to the decrease in supply. The dealers seem to reduce the shipment expecting the price increase.
