Marubeni-Itochu Steel to Build New Sheet Process Plant in Thailand

Marubeni-Itochu Steel announced on Friday the firm decided to build third plant at the sheet steel processing company, United Coil Center in Thailand for 450 million bahts. The processing capacity, which is the largest volume in Thai coil centers operated by Japanese companies, reaches 550,000 tonnes per year by November 2011 to meet growing demand.

With the new plant, the coil center will increase the capacity along with the service including immediate delivery for the users when local transplants of Japanese automakers and appliances makers increase the operations especially for export.

The third plant is located in Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard industrial park, Rayong of Southeast Thailand where many automakers have plants. The plant with 40,000 square meters of land has slitter and mini-leveler.

With the new plant, United Coil Center will have total 5 slitters, 3 large levelers and 4 blanking machines. The firm provides cutting process service for cold rolled flat steel, electrical steel and stainless flat steel and blanking and tailored welded blanking service for automobile.
