JFE Steel to Ship First Hot Rolled Coil to JSW Steel

JFE Steel will ship first hot rolled coil sample soon to the technical alliance partner, JSW Steel of India. JFE Steel will export 25 tonnes hot coil and increase the supply to JSW. JSW Steel improves the technology to make automotive flat steel through around 6-month cold rolling test with the provided coil at Vijayanagar works in southwest India. JFE Steel aims to supply automotive steel to users including Japanese transplants in India. JSW Steel could start the automotive steel with JFE Steel’s technology as early as in spring 2011.

JFE Steel announced technical cooperation with JSW Steel and investment in JSW Steel in July. JFE Steel has acquired 14.99% share in JSW Steel for 48 billion rupees.

JFE Steel provides technical support to make automotive steel and to improve existing operation. With the JFE Steel’s technology, JSW Steel tries to improve the quality enough to high level required by local transplants of Japanese automakers while JSW Steel already ships automotive cold rolled flat steel to Indian makers.

JFE Steel increases the supply ability of high quality flat steel in China, Thailand and India to meet growing demand for automobile. The firm starts the operation of wholly owned automotive grade continuous galvanizing line in Thailand in April 2013. The automotive flat steel joint venture, Guangzhou JFE Steel Sheet Company launches new cold rolling mill and No.2 galvanizing line in 2011.
