Sumitomo (SEI) Steel Wire‘s Products Adopted to New Airstrip of Haneda Air Port

Sumitomo (SEI) Steel Wire’s reinforced steel fiber and PC strand were adopted to high strengthen reinforced steel fiber concrete floor sheet for airstrip bridge of Haneda Air Port which started the operation on October 21. Sumitomo (SEI) Steel Wire is Japanese major special steel wire maker.

Haneda air port enhanced capacity of air traffic to 410,000 per year from previous 300,000 by accomplishment of new D airstrip. Haneda starts international scheduled airlines between Japan and Europe, and becomes a 24-hour operating hub air port.

Sumitomo (SEI) Steel Wire developed new reinforced steel fiber in cooperation with Kajima Corporation, DENKA and Mitsui Sumitomo Construction. They realized high strengthen concrete floor by combination of reinforced steel fiber and PC Strand. The concrete floor enables less usage of steel tube pile under sea and lower maintenance cost thanks to the concrete floor’s half weight compared with conventional concrete floor.

Sumitomo (SEI) Steel Wire supplied the firm’s high performance pre grout PC steel bar and epoxy coated PC strand to airstrip of D airline.
